The San Luis Obispo County Trumpet Alliance is a 15-20 member trumpet ensemble that performs throughout the San Luis Obispo county area on the Central Coast of California. With over 15 years of performing, the group has become known and respected for its musical excellence and successful performances.
SLO County Trumpet Alliance formed in 2011 through the collaborative efforts of Warren Balfour, Danny Beher and Lyle Stubson. The concept grew wings following the generous donation of a trumpet ensemble library by Danny Beher (Otter Music Publishing) and the ever-expanding Warren Balfour collection. The group repertoire now contains over 500 musical works for trumpet ensemble.
Members of the group include local musicians from a wide variety of backgrounds: music educators, business professionals, students and retirees. The group rehearses twice a month throughout the Cuesta College academic year, with smaller ad hoc rehearsals during summer breaks.
Mission Statement
- To foster and promote trumpet ensemble music through high quality performances, music education, recordings, workshops, clinics and commissions.
- To make a substantial contribution to the musical life of San Luis Obispo County.
- To give our audiences memorable music performances with high quality trumpet ensemble repertoire in a wide range of music styles.
- To provide an avenue for music education of local students by providing scholarships for private music instruction on trumpet.
- To provide the members of the San Luis Obispo County Trumpet Alliance a group activity to enhance musical expression, growth and fellowship.
